Another year, another marathon
When I'm not doing art things or being an IT geek, you'll find me running. This past weekend, I repeated last year's adventure of running the Houston Double. Better known as running the Chevron Houston Marathon, plus the related ABB 5K the day before. I love that this year's medal was designed by Houston native artist, Gonzo247. Check out his murals and work here.
The Houston Marathon is a city-wide event. Over the course of 26.2 miles, I got to run through many of the major neighborhoods in Houston - Downtown, Uptown, Ward 6, Upper Kirby, Tanglewood, Memorial etc. The support the city shows with spectators and volunteers is immense and much appreciated.
This was my second marathon. Also, second to last (I think). I've got one more scheduled for March (a special challenge in Seabrook), and then I plan to keep it to half-marathons and below. Marathons are hard on the body and take a lot of time to train for. I admire those that can do them year after year.
